Happy Monday friends! Today we are talking area rugs. Right now there are a ton of sales on area rugs so I thought it would be a good time to highlight a few of my favorites, and with spring around the corner I also included outdoor options.
When purchasing an area rug size matters; many people make the mistake of purchasing too small of a rug for their room. When purchasing for a living room, for instance, you want to make sure that your rug is large enough to anchor the room. That being said, most living rooms require a minimum size of 8×10, and with this size you are able to place the front legs of your furniture on the rug, while the back of your furniture will most likely be off of the rug. If you want a rug that allows for your furniture to fully sit on it you will most likely (depending on the size of your room) need to purchase a 10×14. Cost is generally the reason that most people opt for smaller area rugs, but today is your lucky day, I have rounded up several indoor area rugs that are both beautiful and affordable.

Area rugs can be a great place to start when you are working create direction in your decorating. If you choose your area rug first it can set the tone for a room, if you want a more mid-century modern feel number 2 would be perfect, or if you want a more formal feel love number 6. I personally have number 4 in my great room and I love that it still has a lot of light colors in it but still hides foot traffic. If you are looking for a good jute rug number 9 is actually a bleached jute rug and would be perfect for layering. Each of these would be a great choice for your living room or bedroom.

Living in the Pacific Northwest it really does not feel like outdoor weather until late spring/early summer, however decorating for it early somehow makes me feel like it will come faster. I also have waited too long in the past and my favorite products are sold out. As I mentioned there are major sales going on, even on outdoor rugs. Each of these rugs is made for outdoor use, which is critical when it comes to fading and upkeep. I am OBSESSED with number 3 from World Market, it is actually an indoor/outdoor rug, but I think the mix of its great pattern, yet subtle colors would make it perfect for an outdoor space. I also loved number 10, and I think it would be perfect for layering with a doormat at your front door. I love the fact that with a black and white rug you can add bright pinks and blues, or go with green, white and wood tones. Blues are another favorite of mine for outdoor use, and I love the combination of blues and greens.
Area rugs can be a tough decision and a big investment. I worked to provide several great options here, I hope you find one that works for you!
I hope you are having a great day!
