With the sun poking out here and there I have been so motivated to tackle a few more projects around our barn, if you are wondering why I refer to our home as “the barn” you can read all about it here. One project that has been on my mind a lot is a home office space for myself. Currently, I have my computer down where our mudroom will be, and even though there is heat down there, I FREEEEEZE! So today I am sharing a mood board I created for a potential home office.

For a home office to remain organized there are a few essential pieces: the first being a desk with enough working space, and the second is some form of filing system. I love this filing cabinet from Ballard Designs, it looks like a piece of furniture instead of a traditional filing cabinet, and it also comes in a light blue! For this space I used the white cabinet because I always love the combination of earth tones, like those in the desk and chandelier, and white. The beaded chandelier is the perfect mix of feminine yet simple, and I love that the area rug is a neutral yet offers several accent colors to work with. Another favorite is the detail on the accent chair, it is a piece of art in and of itself. Finally, how adorable are those bookmarks? They read “mark my words,” “where I left off,” and “page turner;” these would make a really cute addition when gifting a book.
Having a space that is inspiring is important when designing a home office, no one wants to work in a gloomy space. I hope this design encourages you as create a space in your home that feels motivating for you to work in.
Happy Monday!
